Be Still

22 Apr

I talked in an earlier post about unplugging. I’ll be the first one to admit that it’s not easy. Heck, I check my phone more than I need to. However, when I do unplug, I feel free. It’s nice not having to worry about life for a little while.

IMG_0019I remember when Andrew was a little peanut. When all he would do was eat and sleep. He would sleep on me for hours. These days, he would rather play. I do love that he’s more interactive these days, but I really do miss him just sleeping on me.

So you can imagine how I felt when right after a feeding, he fell asleep on me. I was checking my emails at the time and once I snapped this picture, I shut off my computer. I get all choked up thinking about how he won’t be a little peanut anymore. Before I know it, he won’t want to snuggle with me, so savor every snuggle, every hug, smile, and giggle that I can. I don’t want to let technology get in the way. I just want to be in that moment, to be still.

Have you taken a moment to be still recently? Thank you The MissElaineous Life for inspiring me.

I’ve thought a lot about this. Having a new baby is chaotic and a whirlwind, but there are so many moments of stillness, especially when your baby likes to sleep on you! (My son would only nap in my arms for many months!) Now that my son is a toddler, he is never STILL! Always moving, constant action. I have to wait for those moments until he’s asleep. (Which is, thankfully, only in his crib. But I sort of miss those moments of cuddling.)

Good for you for realizing you need to stay connected to your baby, and not connected to your phone. Although I don’t have kids, this is a lesson I constantly need to be reminded of, as my hubby deserves my attention too.

Oh yes, baby or not, it’s important to unplug & stay connected with our loved ones too.

For us unplugging also means putting down the camera. We love taking photos of our little Muffin but I have to remind myself and my husband to put away the camera and enjoy being with her for a while.

I found you through the I Hate Mondays blog hop. :)

Or rather, the I Don’t Like Mondays blog hop. You can tell how my week is going. :)

Good point. I am constantly with a camera too. I stopped taking so many too because it’s just so overwhelming to go through them all. I try to remind myself that my parents didn’t have digital cameras like us & we still have plenty of photo albums of memories! Also I hope your week is going better.
