Old School Blogging: Holiday Edition

16 Dec

First things first: 1 Holy Night or 8 Crazy Ones? (Do you Celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, both?)

Christmas! I will admit after moving from NY *cough* 17 years ago to states w/ warmer climates, it feels less like the Holidays.

Peppermint or Chocolate?

Peppermint. I like how it makes my mouth cold.

Sing us into the Holiday Season, what is your favorite Carol this time of year?

If I sing, you will stop reading so I give you my Twisted Mixed Tape all about Christmas Carols.

Tell us about a Favorite Family or Personal Holiday Tradition?

Again, have a looksie at my Finish The Sentence Friday all about Fried Rice and Fortune Cookies

C’mon you know you remember your favorite  (Christmas, Hanukkah) gift, tell us all about it:

Hands down, my first CD player. I still remember how excited I was when I opened up the CD compartment for the first time.

That magical moment? (Your favorite scene in a Holiday movie…it’s okay if you have 2)

Ummmm? Pass!

Kissing under the mistletoe? Who do you hope is standing underneath (We know it’s normally your spouse but if it didn’t have to be, who would you choose?)

How old are we again? ;)

Swans- a- swimming, lords- a- leaping, golden rings; which gift of the 12 days of Christmas would you like most?

5 golden rings because a house full of animals isn’t my thing

Play Secret Santa, what inappropriate gift would you love to give this year?

 A fruitcake!

Martha Stewart or the Grinch? What is your decorating style? (Pictures would be awesome!)

Hehe, not quite Martha but we try!

What is ONE WORD that defines the holiday season for you? (Examples: Believe/Wonder/Bah Humbug?)

If Santa could assure its delivery, what’s the first thing on your CHRISTMAS LIST?

That we could spend Christmas with both of our families.

Old School Blogging- Pop Culture

7 May

It’s time for the next monthly installment of Old School Blogging!

1.  What was one of your favorite shows as a kid?  Why?

First of all, let me tell you I grew up in a very strict home with no tv. With that being said, we would of course sneak & watch tv when my dad wasn’t home. So I liked all the Disney Afternoon shows and also Animaniacs. Forget prime time tv, except for TGIF. Full House & Family Matters were my favorites.
2. Which actress(es) do you see on the red carpet and kinda wish you could be for a day (or three)?

Sofia Vegara & Reese Witherspoon (minus the drunken rage)

3.  Which actor do you wish you could, um… hang out with? ;)

I’m awful. I don’t watch much tv at all these days, so I’m horrible with pop culture. Ask me back in high school & I would tell you Brad Pitt. Yes, 1997 Brad Pitt.
4. What is one (or two or some) of your favorite movies that you have seen in the last few years?
Being a new mama, the only movie I’ve seen this year was Oz the Great and Powerful which was pretty good. I also like The Help & Les Mis

5. Who is one celebrity out there now that you could totally do without? That you wish would just disappear?

The Kardashians & the Jersey Shore people.

6. Have you ever met a celebrity? If so, who? What did you say/do when you met them?

I used to work in a hotel that rhymed with chariot. A lot of the WWE wrestlers would stay there when they had matches in the area. I’ve met a whole bunch, they were super nice. I’ve also met Weird Al, who was a neat guy. Apolo Ohno & Kristin Chenoweth were pretty cool too. I guess I lucked out meeting nice people.

7.  Which shows do you look forward to watching every week?

Big Bang Theory, HIMYM (I admit I only watch for Barney these days because the show is dragging) Two Broke Girls, Hell’s Kitchen.

Okay, now it’s your turn!

Old School Blogging- Marriage, Babies, & Bliss

8 Apr

I remember those surveys my friends & I would email each other in high school & college. Sometimes I miss those times. Thankfully, Elaine from the Miss Elaine-ous Life started a series of Old School Blogging where we once again answer those old surveys. I think it’s a great way for you to get to know me. When you’re done, go ahead & leave me a comment linking me to your survey. I’d love to get to know you too!

1. How did your husband pop the big question?

At dinner on the rooftop of the Ritz Carlton….. hehe that’s what we tell everyone. It was actually more laid back than that. I was watching the winter olympics back in 06 & he asked me if I was ready for my Valentine’s Day present & then turned off the tv! I was a bit upset since I love watching the winter olympics, but he proposed, so I forgive him ;)

2. What are the three most surprising things about married life?

This one is a toughie. I pass for now…

3. How did you find out you were pregnant for the first time?

We were trying, so we were stocked w/ the pregnancy tests. I took one early & it said no. Then I took one a few days later & it was positive. Of course, just to be sure, I took another one a day later just to be sure….and then I went to the doc to confirm :)

4. How did you choose your baby’s name?

We were just going thru the alphabet & I always liked the name Andrew. So we went thru the rest of the letters & when we got to the J, we agreed on Jacob, but weren’t sure if it should be Andrew Jacob or Jacob Andrew.

5. Describe where you see yourself in 10 years from now…

Still married, living in a house with air conditioning & a kitchen with an island in the middle because I love to cook. Not sure where we’ll be, but I have a feeling it won’t be California.

6. Describe how you find bliss, either with words or images.

Simple things. Playing with Andrew, hearing the waves crash on the beach, the sounds of my blades as the cut the ice in the rink.

That’s it! I tag anyone reading this. Be sure to check out The Miss Elaine-ous Life for Old School Blogging fun & more.
